Naomi grew up playing in the boreal landscape of Canada’s North and feels most comfortable in wide open spaces with a camera in hand. As a filmmaker Naomi works in both fiction and documentary creating intimate portraits that focus on the human condition. Her recent work includes the feature film How To Bee, a POV documentary about her relationship with her father as he teaches her to keep bees at the end of his life and The Arctics, a short documentary filmed across the circumpolar North with her husband with whom she founded the company Midnight Light Media in 2017. Naomi is based in Whitehorse, Yukon where she grew up with a deep appreciation of the connection between people and land. She takes her inspiration from that relationship and when she isn’t working she is trying her best to grow, make and build things. |
